It replaces a site’s video player controls with one consistent bar: the same scrubber, volume, speed menu, and keyboard shortcuts on every site. Playback runs through the browser’s standard video element, so it behaves the same way everywhere.

If the site plays video through a standard web video element, yes. That covers YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, X, Vimeo, and most of the web. A few big sites get extra tuning on top for things like quality menus and captions.

None. No analytics, no accounts, no network requests of its own. Your per-site settings are stored locally in your browser, and the extension asks for only two permissions: local storage and access to the active tab.

No. A site is only ever in one mode. In enhanced mode the site’s own controls are removed and kept from coming back, so the Scrubbly bar is the only player on screen. In native mode the site’s player is untouched.

Scrubbly detects videos it shouldn’t control and leaves them alone: live calls, autoplaying background clips, tiny thumbnails, and players with no source.

Every video Scrubbly controls has a small tag on its top-left corner. Click it to switch that site back to its own player, and click again to switch back. The choice is saved per site. You can also switch from the toolbar popup.

Scrubbly is on the Chrome Web Store, which covers Chrome and Chromium-based browsers like Edge, Brave, Arc, and Opera. Firefox and Safari have their own extension stores, and Scrubbly isn’t in them yet.
