Asked, answered.

Fair questions. Straight answers.

01 What does Scrubbly actually do?

It replaces a site’s video player controls with one clean, consistent bar — the same scrubber, volume, speed menu, and keyboard shortcuts on every site. Playback is driven through the standard web video element, so there is no site-specific code to break.

02 Does it work on my favorite site?

If the site plays video through a standard web video element — as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, X, Vimeo, and most of the web do — yes. Scrubbly has zero per-site integrations, which is exactly why it works the same everywhere.

03 What data does Scrubbly collect?

None. No analytics, no accounts, no network requests of its own. Your per-site settings are stored locally in your browser, and the extension asks for only two permissions: local storage and access to the active tab.

04 Will I end up with two sets of controls on screen?

Never — that is Scrubbly’s core rule: modal, never layered. In enhanced mode the site’s own controls are removed and guarded against coming back, so the Scrubbly bar is the only player on screen. In native mode Scrubbly is fully inert and the site’s player is untouched.

05 Why do my volume and speed keep resetting on some sites?

Sites re-assert their own defaults — snapping speed back to 1×, volume to full. That is what the pin is for: pin your values and Scrubbly silently drops the site’s conflicting writes while your own changes go through.

06 What about video calls and background videos?

Scrubbly detects videos that should never be touched — live calls, decorative autoplaying backgrounds, tiny thumbnails, sourceless players — and leaves them completely alone.

07 How do I go back to the site’s own player?

Every video Scrubbly enhances carries the Scrubbly chip at its top-right corner; the mode is per-site and switches in one click. In native mode the extension is inert on that site until you invite it back.

08 Does Scrubbly work in Firefox?

Yes — Firefox 128 or newer (the version where Firefox runs Scrubbly’s page guard in the right world), alongside Chrome. A Safari build is produced from the same codebase.

Every video. One player.
